TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen Disabled Sports

Image: Heinrich Popow Disabled sports have been practiced at TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen since 1950. Today the disabled sports department with its 300 members belongs to the biggest and most successful of its kind in Germany.
 
Names such as Petra Quade, Dirk Mimberg, Britta Jänicke, Jörg Frischmann and Britta Siegers stand for international success in competitive sports.
 
Since the beginning of the nineties, the disabled-sports activities in Leverkusen have shifted more and more to athletics events. The athletes have managed to win numerous World-Championship titles and Paralympic medals. So far Bayer athletes have won 47 medals at the Paralympics.
 
Outstanding athletes such as Astrid Höfte, Michaela Floeth, Katrin Green, Heinrich Popow (pictured) and Andrea Hegen promise more success for the TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen Disabled Sports Department in the future.
Elsewhere the sitting volleyball team around player-manager Dr Karl Quade has also been extremely successful. 15 German championships, three European Cups, medals at the Paralympics and World Championships along with four Dutch Ehrendivision titles are the highlights of a very long list.
