Bayer: "Official Sponsor of the German Paralympic Committee"

Bayer’s support of disabled sports has a very long history. Bayer have been involved in both disabled and rehabilitation sports since 1950 when the disabled sports department of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen was founded. The department is one of the biggest and most successful of its kind in Germany. It gives young and talented sportsmen and sportswomen the opportunity to work on their talents in athlectics, sitting volleyball and swimming and to help the German national team have a succesful Paralympics.

Image: Anzeige Behindertensport A poster of the Bayer-Sport-Image-Campaign has picked up on this theme and uses disabled sportman Heinrich Popow as its figurehead. Popow was picked out as an example for numerous disabled people, that can gain confidence from sport and a successful live both in private live and in business live.
However, disabled sports at TSV Bayer 04 is just competition sport, but mainly rehabiliation and recreational sport for the over 330 members.
The Herbert-Grünewald-Foundation, that was founded in 1981 and received a 3 million Mark donation from the former chairman of the board, is further proof of Bayer’s commitment to disabled sports.
The Bayer AG regards itself as a partner of disabled sports in Germany due to the various activities and will continue to support it and keep a close eye on the disabled athletes.
